Our initial consultation (up to 1.5 hours) offers a unique opportunity to obtain information you need, tailored to your specific situation, at a fraction of the lawyer’s regular hourly rate. Upon completion of your consultation, you will be equipped with the necessary information and knowledge to take the next steps in your divorce or separation with confidence. Below is a detailed overview of what your consultation will include:

• A review of your situation and legal options;
• Discussion of your entitlement, rights, risks and strategy;
• Answers to your questions;
• Next steps explained in a simple manner.

Our flat fee for uncontested divorce includes:

• Preparation and completion of:
  • Application for Divorce (Form 8A or Form 8)
  • Affidavit for Divorce (Form 36)
  • Divorce Order (Form 25A)
  • Certificate of Divorce (Form 36B)
  • Additional required forms based on court location
• Filing all documents with the appropriate Ontario Superior Court of Justice
• Payment of all government filing fees (included in the block fee)
• Coordination with court staff and tracking the progress of the application
• Providing a filed copy of the Divorce Order and Certificate of Divorce once granted

Please note:

This fee applies only to simple divorce cases where only a divorce is sought, both parties agree on the terms and no other family law issues (such as custody, support, or property division) are being raised. If complexities arise or additional work is required due to incomplete or withheld information, or due to the other party contesting the divorce, additional hourly charges may apply. As well, additional charges may apply if there is difficulty serving the other party with the documents.

We offer a fixed-fee family law service for clients who have agreed on terms and need a legally binding separation agreement. This includes:

• Initial strategy and terms of the agreement discussion
• First draft + up to 2 revisions/amendments by the client
• Final meeting to review and sign

Any additional services that may be required, such as changes requested by the other side and the completion of financial disclosure, are discussed on a case-by-case basis and may or may not be included in the block fee, which is confirmed prior to the retainer being signed.

We offer a fixed-fee service where there is an agreement in principle between the parties. Our fixed fee includes:

• Initial meeting to review terms with legal advice
• First draft and up to 2 revisions/amendments by the client
• Final meeting to review and sign

Any additional services that may be required, such as changes requested by the other party and the completion of financial disclosure, are discussed on a case-by-case basis and may or may not be included in the block fee, which is confirmed prior to the retainer being signed.

For ongoing or complex family law matters, we require retainers. We ensure cost-effective work allocation between the lawyer and staff while maintaining the highest level of work quality. Retainers may apply to:

• Separation agreement negotiations
• Contested divorce/separation or complex litigation matters
• Compiling and preparing full financial disclosure package, including Financial Statement
• Trial preparation and representation
